Comparison · 2026 Edition

Best portfolio analytics tools (2026): 7 platforms compared.

Seven platforms ranked for the retail-quant investor and advisor managing multi-asset portfolios. Ranked by scope fit, not by marketing reach. Each tool has an honest weakness disclosed so the reader can pick the right one for their workflow — including keeping two side-by-side, which is common.

Disclosure. This list is published by MEDGE Capital, which is included at #1 based on scope fit for the target reader (retail-quant / multi-asset portfolios with macro context). MEDGE would plausibly rank #2-4 for other readers — equity-only researchers should likely start with Koyfin, factor-decomposition users with Portfolio Visualizer. Pricing and feature data verified June 2026 against each vendor's public site; verify with the vendor before deciding.

The criteria

Five measurable dimensions, no subjective stars:

  1. 1.Free access. Does the platform have a free tier with no time limit? Free trials count separately.
  2. 2.Multi-currency base. Can a portfolio be tracked in USD / EUR / GBP / CHF interchangeably, or only USD?
  3. 3.CVaR + optimization. Does it ship Conditional Value-at-Risk and at least one portfolio optimization objective?
  4. 4.Regulatory data (SEC 13F). Are SEC 13F institutional holdings / Form 4 insider trades / CFTC COT available in the same workspace?
  5. 5.UCITS / European coverage. Does it index European UCITS ETFs and non-US indices natively (FTSE, DAX, Nikkei, etc)?

How to pick — decision tree

  • You manage a multi-asset portfolio and care about CVaR / tail risk → MEDGE Capital. The free tier is enough to verify the metrics before upgrading.
  • You run Fama-French / Carhart factor regression on US equities → Portfolio Visualizer. The 13-year curated US dataset + the polished factor module are unmatched.
  • You spend most of your day on bottom-up equity research → Koyfin. Capital IQ depth + the advisor workflow is what you're paying for.
  • You want global stock fundamentals at retail pricing → TIKR. 100k+ stocks across 92 countries at $19.95/mo.
  • You need a US dividend / fundamental screener → Stock Rover. The 670 screening criteria + dividend analytics library are mature.
  • You just want a free net-worth aggregator → Empower (US-only) or Kubera (global, premium). Neither is portfolio analytics in the rigorous sense.

It is normal to use two tools. Many serious retail-quant investors keep MEDGE Capital open for portfolio + risk + macro and Koyfin (or Portfolio Visualizer) open for security-level or factor-level research. The two workflows do not overlap meaningfully — they complement.
